Bleu Voodoo Lyrics

Bleu Voodoo Lyrics

Always, Always

Now Baby, we've had some good times
And we've had some hard times
But you're always, always on my mind

Well Darlin', I need your love
So I need to give you love
'Cause you're always, always on my mind

Now Baby, you know when we're apart
It's so hard on this grown man's heart
But you're always, always on my mind

I remember walkin' down that ol' dirt road
Hand in hand where those wildflowers grow
I held you close, you pressed your lips to mine
When times are tough I always go there in my mind
Now baby, my baby

Now Baby, you know I love so
You know I had to go
But you're always, always on my mind

Edge of Sunshine

Hanging on the edge of the sunshine
Sittin’ in the shade
Wondering how this big ol’ world got made
Playing this here ol guitar
Trying to make a soulful sound
Thinking about how this big ol’ world is spinning ‘round

Faith where are you?
Down here on this earth
I know I must find you
'Cause I know what your fortune’s worth

Like the sunlight
In the blue sky
Let your love shine down on me
Like the sunlight
In the blue sky
Make your love shine down on me

I can’t be alone
'Cause I hear your still voice sing
Like the soft sound of the hummingbirds wings
In the heat of the day
Sittin’ here in the shade
Wondering about the next thing to come my way

Chorus:

Falling Over You

A southern breeze blows through the pines
Memories tumble back to a place where you were mine
I often wonder if I ever cross you mind
I like to think I do, and it makes you smile

I'm falling, Im falling
Will you catch me when I'm through
I'm falling over you

I remember the scent of the grass
I know the color of the ground
I know how tall the trees grow
And I know that you are still around

I'm falling, I'm falling
Will you catch me when I'm through
I'm falling over you

Can't wait to be with you again
I can't to hear me say your name
This time I'll be there in end
Will you please do the same

I'm falling, I'm falling
Please catch me when I'm through
I'm falling over you
Please catch me when I'm through
I'm falling over you

Garden of Love

Well I’ll tell you all a story bout a garden of love
Tried to sow a garden in my woman’s heart
Planted my seeds and tended it well
The reason now, I never could tell

I planted some flowers in the month of June
But by July they would not bloom
Come September, came a killin’ frost
And all this young man's garden was lost

I went on down to your daddy’s grove
I said, I tried and tried to cultivate my love
Well little Miss what do you say?
She said, foolish boy you know I’ve gone away

Each night I go back to that garden gate
On its rusted hinge I hang, and wait
Beyond brown stalks that never green
For the winter thaw, a sign of spring

Instead I mourn the death of a garden of love
My garden withered in my woman’s heart
On rocky soil no root had grown
Little Miss you’ll rue the day you were born.
Oh, You’ll rue the day you were born
For killing the garden, the garden of love

Ol' Miss Selma

Well good morning, Montgomery
Joe said, "Hey Alva, how y'all?"
Now the hard spring rains have the bayou swollen
And the winds swirled my memories afar

The kinfolk gather closely
In red brick rows and little shacks
Their southern roots are strong and deep
And as fragile as that old mortar in the cracks

Have you seen O'l Miss Selma
A wide black belt 'round her emerald gown
Bet her hair has turned cotton white
And her braided crimson hem dragging on the ground

The yellow clouds receive the blue
The sky is alive with dragon flies
What lies behind those deep dark eyes
Ol' Miss Selma is on my mind

Yes, I'm going back to Alabama
To lay up there and rest my weary mind
Find a shade oak on a red dirt road
And watch that busy blue bird fly

Chorus:

Have you seen her? O'l Miss Selma
Oh Alabama!

Swamp Song

Well... Out back here in the swamp
Some funny things keep goin down
Back yonder in the swamp
Some funny things always goin down
But most things get wild
After the sun go down

There’s something in the water, There’s something in your daughter
There’s something in the water, There’s something in your daughter
Drive a grown man crazy, After the sun go down

Say hey pretty baby
Your daddy buys you the finest things
Say hey pretty mama
Don’t daddy buy you the finest things
But when daddy ain’t lookin’
Y’all sneak around and shake that thing

Chorus:

Out back got me some roosters
Got me some sugar cane
Out back got me some roosters
And some tall sugar cane
And some big ol’ snakes n gators
After them mid-day rains

Chorus:

Come home a-hollerin’
From the tremblin’ ground
Come home a-hollerin’
From the tremblin’ ground
Come creepin’ round my back door
My 40 cal gonna cut you down

Chorus:

The Dumber They Get

Co-written with Noah Thacker

I’ve always been grateful... for this land
Built my life... with my own two hands
Never thought I'd be... working for the man
What do I find... there is no plan

And the higher they go
The dumber they get
The leaders are lost
And we're drowning in debt

And the higher they go
The deeper we get
And we are up to my necks
With hard work and regret

Well here I am... so far from home
Full hotel... another night alone
Homesick aches... down to my bones
Part gypsy, part rock... I’m a rolling stone

And the higher they go
The dumber they get
If it’s rainin’ outside
They get soakin’ wet

Yea the higher they go
The deeper we get
And I'm up to my neck
With hard work and regret

Solo:

Yea the higher they go
The dumber they get
They think we don’t know
Still you get what you get

The higher it goes
The deeper we get
And I'm up to my neck
With hard work and regret

About Bleu Voodoo

Please let me tell y'all little story about the band known as Bleu Voodoo.  The band was born and raised down in the swamps of Florida, the home of rebel rocker Bleu.  The original band and every incarnation thereafter has been a 3 piece; guitar, bass, and drums.  The boys played cover songs in their own style, not so much trying to copy the original, that would be stupid.  Who can do a song better than the original artist?  So their drivin' bluesy style was a no brainer; just do what you like and have fun.  The original lineup was Bleu on guitar and vocals, Kenny, aka "Elvis" on drums and vocals, and Roger on bass.  These three amigos stuck together for 7 years which is longer then most marriages.  Kenny moved on the become a full time Elvis impersonator.  Roger moved on to start a group with his brother, which left Bleu to carry on.  He found Bob-the-drummer and Dirty Henry to play bass and sing and the train rolled on... well, before running completely off track.

Now Bleu is back with Jonny Drummer and Pistol Pete on bass.  They are writing and recording original stuff.  Bleu is also soloing a lot, which is a different vibe but it's all right for now, yeah baby it's all right now.  So thanks for hanging out and check the Blog link at the left to follow where we're at.  Good times!  And thanks!
